A Wish for Every Season
A pink bloom peeks over the top of the packet, like the first flower in a garden waking up. Below it, two blue birds sit among branches dotted with pink and orange blossoms. Fine, stitch-like lines in the petals and feathers give the artwork the look of embroidery against a soft mint-green background.
At the centre, four gold-stamped characters read 四季平安, a wish for peace and well-being through all four seasons. It’s a blessing that reaches beyond the first day of Chinese New Year. When you hand someone this ang pao, you’re wishing them well for the ordinary days ahead, too.
